When opportunity knocks, you open the door. My name is Scott Cressman and I’m on a journey to learn about refugees, and how I can offer assistance to these often-forgotten people. Back home in Canada, I’ve worked with refugees from around the world, and I’m excited about what they might teach me here.
With support from my church, employer, friends, and family, I’m in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, and Tanzania this spring to learn, grow, challenge and be challenged.
I can help with prayers. What else can I do to help you?
Thanks Marnie, we’re glad for your support! I would also suggest supporting local projects like Welcome Home or Micah House that are supporting refugees. They usually have practical ways to extend a helping hand to the newcomers in our neighbourhoods.
I’ve traveled all over East Africa and live in Mwanza, Tanzania now. I hope you love your East African journey as much as I have loved mine!
Hi Scott,
I stumbled across your blog today and just wanted to let you know how encouraging it was for me. I’m a reporter for a Christian newspaper in Auckland, New Zealand but originally from the UK. I traveled to Uganda with a team in 2008 and since then have had a very deep love for Africa and it’s people. Since my trip I have felt a real calling to use my writing to highlight the need in Africa and (hopefully) to inspire people to make a positive difference in the world; though I’m still trying to figure out what that looks like. I guess I just wanted to say thank you, it came just at the right time. Gemma
Glad you found it! It has been a great way to share some of my learning during the trip. Hopefully we can both be inspired and also inspire others through the writing we share.
Scott! Stumbled on your blog while searching for any posts about our mutual friend, Dan Ogola. Hope to connect with you sometime.
